While reading Experience God, I could see myself fitting into more than one of the categories. I guess I never put a "label" on how I experience God before, but this was great! I learned I have changed over the years as well in my spiritual journey and can float between nature, asceticism, contemplation and the senses.
But, right now I experience God in the wilderness. In a season of "whitewater transition" that doesn't seem to stop, God is ever present and obvious. Not obvious as in He is showing me all His plans, or the why's, or His timing, but rather He is just with me. I've learned that instead of just wanting this season of life to be over, I want to be aware of Jesus with me. I want to be aware of how He is caring for me, providing for me. I want to be aware of His presence. Being in His presence is a beautiful thing. The more you are in the presence of a dear friend, the more you know them and love them. And when you love somebody, you never want to do anything to hurt them. And you desire to be with in their presence.
The same with Jesus. The more I know Him, the more I love Him, the more I don't want to do anything to hurt Him. And I never want to be out of His presence, even if that means a wilderness experience.
